My advanced training as a Board Certified Chiropractic Neurologist and decades of study in functional neurology with the Carrick Institute makes it possible for me to improve the conditions of many people who had otherwise given up hope.

Frequency-specific microcurrent (FSM) uses a special device to deliver mild electrical current to certain parts of your body. Depending on the tissue involved, specific frequencies will be selected to encourage natural healing of the body and to reduce your pain. The therapy is painless and relaxing and most do not even feel it working during their session. Not all clients require the use of this device, but it can be helpful to many.
Chiropractic Care and Functional Neurology
What is Functional Neurology?
Functional neurology is one of many specialties within chiropractic. Postdoctoral training in neurology takes place in the course of 3 years, leading to examinations certifying the doctor of chiropractic (DC) as a Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (A.C.N.B.)
The nervous system was once considered fixed after childhood, but now we know it is capable of remarkable change. The brain and nervous system are “plastic” and can be shaped or modified by sensory, motor, or cognitive experiences where temporal- and spatial-summative neural activation can be used to rewire and reprogram the nervous system.
Chiropractors who are trained and specialized in the field of Functional Neurology use a variety of techniques to help the brain make necessary changes to re-wire and restore integrated function in addition to utilizing chiropractic adjustments when necessary.
Medical Neurology vs. Functional Neurology
A medical neurologist will typically use drugs or surgery to treat abnormal nerve function. A functional neurologist will typically use physical non-invasive stimuli to restore nerve function. The methods used by functional neurologists will vary from person to person, depending on their health challenges. Every patient is uniquely evaluated and given a rehabilitation program that meets their needs and monitors their improvement.
How Can Functional Neurology Help Me?
Many people don't realize that seemingly common injuries, chronic pain conditions and neuro-muscular / motor problems actually involve an underlying neurological component that pre-disposes the person to these injuries and/or symptoms. These can include vestibular disorders (that pre-dispose one to falls or poor coordination), brain-based weaknesses, undetected under or over-active areas of the brain, underlying hormonal imbalances - and more. In cases where these issues are occurring beneath the surface, regular physical therapy and/or standard chiropractic care (and many other types of healthcare) may render less than successful results. Looking into these possibilities as a reason for less than stellar recovery or ongoing health difficulties can often shed light on why healing is not occurring. An evaluation in our office can determine if these issues are hindering your recovery, keeping you from living your life as fully as possible.
